About Me

Hey there I’m Maya, a freelance illustrator from Texas, currently living and creating in North Carolina. I am entirely self-taught, driven by a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts and a deep love for dark, grungy aesthetics.In 2021, I experienced major changes to my eyesight that shifted my perspective. It prompted me to leave the corporate world and dedicate my life completely to creating art while I still have the ability to.My illustration work is heavily inspired by comic art and alternative lifestyles. It explores themes of body diversity, kink, and feminine sensuality. I believe that seeing unpolished bodies portrayed as desirable is essential for fostering a healthy relationship with ourselves and our sexualities. Through my work, I’m creating the art that I desperately needed when I was younger and building a safe, sex-positive space for adults to unlearn shame and celebrate the beautiful, rough edges of desire.When I’m not working in my home studio, you can usually find me hanging out with my geriatric chihuahua doing things like napping, listening to audiobooks, tending to my garden, or exploring new places.
